If latest researches are to be taken into account it is alarming to find that a growing number of people are slowly falling victim to obesity and it is even more shocking to see that a major group of these overweight people is constituted by teenagers and children. It is necessary to point out here that obesity can make a person susceptible to contracting life threatening diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart diseases etc. and therefore one of the primary concerns in this case is to lose weight. But it is also to be remembered here that many individuals in their bid to lose weight quickly indulge themselves into various fast weight loss programs and diets which instead of benefiting them are actually harmful for health. Therefore, there are certain factors to be borne in mind prior to getting themselves into a weight loss program.

One of the most effective means of losing weight is by following a balanced diet made up of ingredients belonging to all the food groups and then instill healthy habits within themselves ignoring the unhealthy ones and while it is true that these diet programs may take a longer time than the quick weight loss methods to reduce weight, they are extremely healthy and would not harm the functioning of the body organs. The perfect weight loss diet is low in fat and moderate in protein content with certain proportion of carbohydrates as well. Here one can think of the common saying that ‘no gain is achieved without pain'. Therefore it is always advisable to get into rigorous exercising and toil. It is true that contrary to the quick weight loss methods, these methods are time consuming and strenuous as well. But these are the ones which will provide guaranteed long term results. This is because in case of most fast weight loss diets it has been observed that while on dieting the results are good, but the moment the diet is aborted, weight gain is consequent. Experts are also of the opinion that eating in small proportions when hungry is good for health and it is advisable to have food in small amounts throughout the day than having heavy meals. The most significant thing that should be pointed out here that people should steer clear of the innumerable weight loss pills with high chemical content which are available in the market as they cause various side effects like nausea, vomiting, headaches and are quite harmful.
